Frequently asked questions
Is the Vodacom reward real?
Yes — Vodacom is part of the live reward catalog in South Africa, and real players redeem it every day. We never ask you to pay to redeem.
How fast does the Vodacom reward arrive?
Rewards are delivered digitally after you redeem — most arrive within minutes, though some can take a little longer.
How much can I earn?
It depends on how much you play and how many reward boxes you open. Halo Mini doesn't promise fixed earnings — but playing is always free.
Do I have to pay or deposit anything?
No. Halo Mini is free to download, free to play and free to redeem. No purchase is ever required.
How do I get free Vodacom airtime in South Africa?
On Halo Mini you collect points from mini games and short video ads, then redeem Vodacom airtime in R5, R10, R20 or R50, with no purchase needed. Earnings are not fixed. Vodacom's own options are not free: Airtime Advance is a loan you repay plus R1.20 for every R10, or part of R10, from your next recharge, and VodaBucks, earned when you buy airtime or data, can be spent on airtime and data in the VodaPay app.
Is there a Vodacom spin and win for airtime?
Vodacom's official daily game is Daily V-Up in the VodaBucks programme, not a spin wheel. You get three free plays a day on the VodaPay app, or two if you use one on USSD (*133#). It is a game of chance. Prizes can include free data, voice or SMS bundles, VodaBucks and vouchers. Vodacom warns that some free-airtime SMSes move airtime out of your account.
How to get Vodacom airtime on Halo Mini
Halo Mini is a free rewards app. You collect points by playing short mini games and watching short video ads. You can then redeem Vodacom airtime in R5, R10, R20 or R50. No purchase or deposit is needed. Halo Mini does not promise fixed earnings. Halo Mini is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Vodacom.
The airtime goes straight to the phone number you enter when you redeem. There is no voucher PIN to load. In the 30 days to 25 September 2026, the median time from redeeming to delivery was under a minute. That is a median, so some orders can take longer.
Before you confirm, check the number digit by digit and make sure it is on Vodacom. If you moved your number from another network, choose the network it is on now.
- Networks in South Africa: Vodacom, MTN, Telkom and Cell C
- Amounts: R5, R10, R20 and R50
- Delivery: straight to the number you enter, with no PIN to load
- Cost: no purchase or deposit
Vodacom's own ways to get airtime without cash
Vodacom has a few official options worth knowing when you are out of airtime or cash. One is a loan you pay back. Two are part of its VodaBucks rewards programme. This is how each one works, based on Vodacom's own pages.
Airtime Advance is a loan, not a gift. Vodacom charges an access fee of R1.20 for every R10, or part of R10, that you take. The advance and the fee come off your next recharge. So a R10 advance costs you R11.20. The fee went up from R1.10 on 6 May 2025.
VodaBucks are loyalty points. You earn them when you buy airtime or data, or pay a Vodacom bill. You can spend them on airtime and data in the VodaStore on the VodaPay app. Daily V-Up is the free daily game inside the programme. It is the closest thing Vodacom has to a spin and win.
- Airtime Advance: dial *135*082# to see if you qualify, or dial *135# and choose 'Airtime & Transfers'. You can also check your qualifying amount in the VodaPay app.
- Who qualifies: Prepaid or Hybrid customers who have been active on Vodacom for at least 3 months and recharged a total of at least R29 a month over 3 months. Post-paid customers do not qualify.
- Paying it back: the advance plus the fee comes off your next recharge or direct bundle purchase. Airtime that friends transfer to you is also used to pay it off. Prepaid customers who do not repay within 30 days may lose access or get a lower limit. For Top-Up and uChoose customers, anything unpaid is added to the monthly bill.
- VodaBucks: join for free on the VodaPay app or by dialling *133#. Bank your VodaBucks each week before midnight on Friday. Banked VodaBucks last 12 months.
- Daily V-Up: three free plays a day on the VodaPay app. If you use a free play on USSD, you get two on the app. Free plays are zero-rated, so no data charges apply. Unused free plays expire at 23:59 each day.
- Daily V-Up prizes: it is a game of chance, not skill, so you may win nothing. Prizes can include free data, voice or SMS bundles, VodaBucks and vouchers. Extra plays cost 1 VodaBuck each, up to five a day.

Avoid fake free-airtime offers
Vodacom warns about SMSes that say you only need to dial a USSD code or confirm your details to get free airtime. When you do, airtime is moved out of your account instead. Vodacom also says its agents will never ask you for a One Time Pin.
No one needs your PIN, OTP or password to send you airtime. Be wary of any link that promises unlimited airtime, or asks you to pay or buy vouchers to claim a prize.
- Never share an OTP, PIN or password, even with someone who says they work for Vodacom.
- Do not buy airtime vouchers or send recharge PINs to claim winnings.
- Do not dial a USSD code from an unknown SMS.
- Check real Vodacom offers in the VodaPay app or on vodacom.co.za, not through a code sent to you by SMS.
