Frequently asked questions
Is the MTN reward real?
Yes — MTN is part of the live reward catalog in Uganda, and real players redeem it every day. We never ask you to pay to redeem.
How fast does the MTN reward arrive?
Rewards are delivered digitally after you redeem — most arrive within minutes, though some can take a little longer.
How much can I earn?
It depends on how much you play and how many reward boxes you open. Halo Mini doesn't promise fixed earnings — but playing is always free.
Do I have to pay or deposit anything?
No. Halo Mini is free to download, free to play and free to redeem. No purchase is ever required.
How can I get MTN airtime in Uganda without cash?
On Halo Mini you collect points from mini games and short video ads, then redeem MTN airtime in UGX 500, 1,000, 2,500 or 5,000, with no purchase needed. MTN's own options are XtraTime, a loan with a 10% interest fee that comes off your next recharge, and Senkyu, a free loyalty programme on *141# whose points buy voice minutes, MBs or SMS rather than airtime.
How do I borrow airtime on MTN Uganda?
Use MTN XtraTime. It is for MTN prepaid customers with a history of buying airtime or bundles, and how much you get depends on your limit. It is not free. MTN charges a 10% interest fee. The loan plus the fee comes off your next recharge, and MTN can also recover it when you buy bundles with MoMo. MTN's terms page does not give a dial code, so call 100 (toll free) for help. If you would rather not borrow, Halo Mini lets you redeem MTN airtime in UGX 500, 1,000, 2,500 or 5,000 with points from mini games, with no purchase.
What can I get with MTN Senkyu points?
Senkyu is MTN's free loyalty programme. Join by dialling *141# and selecting Join. You earn points when you use MTN voice, data, SMS or MoMo. Dial *141# and select Use Points to swap them for free voice minutes, MBs or SMS. Use them within 3 months or they expire.
How to get MTN airtime on Halo Mini
Halo Mini is a free rewards app. You get points from playing short mini games and from watching short video ads. You can then redeem your points for MTN airtime. No purchase or deposit is needed. Halo Mini does not promise fixed earnings. Halo Mini is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by MTN.
The airtime is sent straight to the phone number you enter when you redeem. In the 30 days to 25 September 2026, the median time from redeeming to delivery was about a minute or less.
Before you confirm, check the phone number twice and make sure it is an MTN line, not Airtel. The airtime goes to the number you type.
- MTN airtime amounts: UGX 500, 1,000, 2,500 and 5,000
- Where it goes: straight to the phone number you enter
- Cost: no purchase or deposit
- Points: from playing mini games and from short video ads
MTN's own options when your airtime runs low
MTN Uganda has a few official options for when your balance runs out. XtraTime is a loan, not free airtime. You pay it back with a fee. Senkyu is free to join, and shared data comes out of a friend's bundle.
MTN's XtraTime terms page does not list a dial code. Call MTN on 100 (toll free) to ask how to get XtraTime on your line.
- XtraTime: MTN gives prepaid customers an airtime or bundle advance when they run low. You need a history of buying airtime or bundles. Your limit depends on how long you have used the SIM and how much you spend.
- XtraTime fee: MTN charges a 10% interest fee on the amount you borrow. The loan and the fee come off your next recharge. You must recharge within three months.
- XtraTime and MoMo bundles: under MTN's 2025 terms, if your loan is unpaid after 14 days, MTN asks you to repay when you buy a voice, data or combo bundle with MoMo. After two such purchases, repayment is taken without asking, and you cannot buy voice or data bundles with MoMo until the loan is paid. The terms say UGX 10,000 is the current XtraTime loan limit. Your own limit depends on your SIM tenure and spending.
- MTN Senkyu: a free loyalty programme. Dial *141# and select Join, or use the MyMTN app. You earn points when you use MTN voice, data, SMS or MoMo.
- Using Senkyu points: dial *141# and select Use Points to get free voice minutes, MBs or SMS. Points expire if you do not use them for 3 months.
- Data Me2U: a friend with a weekly or monthly MTN data bundle can share data with you through *100#, *160# or the MyMTN app. You both need MTN SIM cards. Shared data lasts 7 days.

Avoid fake free-airtime offers
Be careful with messages that promise free MTN airtime if you send a code or pay a small fee. MTN tells customers never to share their PIN, code or One-Time Password (OTP) with anyone. If someone calls you claiming to be from MTN, call 100 to check.
Halo Mini never needs a purchase or deposit. If anyone asks you to pay to unlock free airtime, do not pay.
- Never share your MoMo PIN, SMS codes or OTP, even with someone who says they work for MTN.
- Do not pay a fee to receive a prize or free airtime.
- Check offers on mtn.co.ug or by calling 100 (toll free).
